A Human In the Making is a superbly written and original play that explores themes which grapple with issues of migration, its impact on individuals, gender difference and its place in society and ultimately, the need to understand that before one can know another, one must firstly know one’s Self. Its dialogue manifested in language which owes its allegiance Elizabethan English.

Yvonne Yamouni, the author is a lawyer by profession. She has been in private practice, has lectured in many legal disciplines, including contract law, commercial law, international law, international business law, aviation law, environmental law, and administrative law in Universities both in Australia and overseas, and is co-author of a text on contract law.

She has lectured in the Jurisprudence Doctor in Administrative Law at a University in Melbourne, Australia and drafted and wrote the curriculum for that subject. She has also lectured in and co-ordinated the subject Legal Practice Management for the Jurisprudence Doctor at the same University.

Yvonne Yamouni has also been a prolific artist and creative talent all of her life. Her paintings have been hung at the National Gallery of Victoria, been included in group exhibitions and also featured in a one woman show. Her paintings, fictional works and poetry are in part, loosely based on her life’s experiences when as a child, her family migrated from the Middle East to the West.

The difference in culture, attitude, behaviour, and belief systems, led the author on a unique, life-long journey and need to attempt to reconcile these seemingly irreconcilable differences and to understand why it is that difference from other is tolerated in all facets of life and nature, except in the human.

Her writings include poetry, inspirational quotes which occurred to her during the course of her life’s journey, and philosophical short stories, which focus on the human experience and elements of spirituality in humans.

Spirituality and the origin of things have not only been Yvonne Yamouni’s life-long focus, they are, she believes, her reason for being. The last dissertation in a forthcoming book, is entitled ‘One Thing’. This piece is the essence and end product of a life-long philosophy whose evolution ultimately led the author to the conclusion that everything is One Thing, and One Thing is everything. The forthcoming book is entitled ‘Glimpses Of The Mind’.

And so, out of the chaos initially encountered by the seemingly irreconcilable differences between East and West, and a lifelong journey of delving into each and its ways, came the author’s ironical conclusion regarding the Oneness of everyone and everything: that All is One and One is All.

Yvonne Yamouni is currently preparing workshops and seminars based on this belief.
